The shirt is a fun colorful way to mix patterns up. It also paired great with these shorts.
So I started with this striped tee from Old Navy, It was fine except for the hole in the back, this would be great for tees with stains, or other marks.
Then I grabbed some fabric, I used cotton but since the tee shirt stretches and the fabric doesn't I cut the fabric on the bias so it would stretch with the tee. I just cut it the shape I wanted leaving room for the edges to be tucked under.
Then I pressed all the edges under.
Then pin the yoke to the tee all around the edges. When I work with fabrics that stretch I pin pretty often so everything is in the right place. Then sew around the edge as close to the edge as you can.
Including the front if you had your yoke overlap.
That's all there is to it, and holes or stains can be gone making a shirt new again. Or just adding a fun element to a perfectly good shirt.
Either way it's a fun new addition to the summer wardrobe!
